Bus Tours

Visit some of Brisbane’s newest, inspiring and award wining clubs, pubs and bars as part of the  AHG Bus Tours. We’ve developed three unique itineraries for you to choose from, all of which include private venue tours, lunch and refreshments along the way.

COST: $90 per person

DEPARTURE DETAIL: All Tours will depart from the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition (BCEC) at the indicated time, and return to The Charming Squire (within the BCEC precinct) at approximately 5pm.

Tour 1: BRISBANE NORTH – SOLD OUT

Departs: 10.45am

Concludes: approx 5pm

Destinations:

  • NORTH LAKES SPORTS CLUB –BRAND NEW CLUB OPENING MARCH 2017 – Queensland’s first NEW club in over 20 years. Be one of the first to visit the new kid on the block!
  • CLUB PINE RIVERS –  Host venue for the televised Bowls Premier League, the club is arguably the number one bowls venue in Australia. With an impressive roof structure over the bowling greens, they’ve recently completed a multi-storey car park.
  • EATONS HILL HOTEL – Leading the pack in entertainment, dining and leisure is multi-award winning, Eatons Hill Hotel and Function Centre. Its one of Australia’s largest hotel complexes and boasts 12 function spaces across 4 levels.
  • ARANA LEAGUES CLUB – 61% of the front of house staff at the club are current or former school based trainees, and with a low 17% staff turnover rate, there might be a thing or two to learn from the successful School Based Trainee program at the club. The club is also set to embark on a large scale renovation including a multi-storey carpark development.
  • THE CHARMING SQUIRE – Finish the day with a cleansing ale at the sort of bar James Squire himself would have loved to drink in.

 

Tour 2: BRISBANE WEST – SOLD OUT

Departs: 11am

Concludes: approx 5pm

Destinations:

  • CLUB SERVICES IPSWICH (IPSWICH RSL) – On the brink of insolvency in early 2016, the club has since undergone a major transformation, and now appeals to a new demographic and a new market. This is a transformation worth seeing!
  • BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB – The club is set to embark on a renovation, and they’ll be sharing their vision and direction for this Ipswich favourite.
  • PRINCE ALFRED HOTEL – QHA’s Hotel of the Year 2016. Come and see what’s made this impressive establishment crowned the ‘cream of the crop’.
  • SUNNYBANK COMMUNITY & SPORTS CLUB – In partnership with Brisbane City Council, the club has completed a major diversification venture and expansion project to include a 300-seat performing arts centre – SunPAC, as well as an underground carpark which features a synthetic turf spots training area over the entirety of the carpark infrastructure.
  • THE CHARMING SQUIRE – Finish the day with a cleansing ale at the sort of bar James Squire himself would have loved to drink in.

 

Tour 3: BRISBANE CENTRAL – SOLD OUT

Departs: 11.20am

Concludes: approx 5pm

Destinations:

  • BRC EAGLE FARM – KENTUCKY BAR – We’re kicking off with some American bar food at the new venue within the Eagle Farm Racecourse stable. GM of Brisbane Racing Club, David Whimpey will speak about ‘Reinvention’ and share the secrets to success of this fine establishment.
  • NEWSTEAD BREWING CO – A microbrewery, pub and restaurant housed in a lofty rustic warehouse, once home to an art gallery and bus depot in Newstead. The decor is the epitome of industrial chic featuring an up-cycled timber bar, raw brick walls and plywood floors and ceilings. The brewpub has twelve draught taps on offer at the bar, pouring six brews from Newstead Brewing Co, along with a rotation of local craft beers. You’ll find yourself overwhelmed with choice at this stop!
  • THE WICKHAM – The Wickham hasn’t just had a renovation; it has undergone a complete transformation. It is now a place where people of all identities can meet, drink, party, and eat. The Wickham is a modern, inner-city pub that is truly reflective of the community in which it’s found.
  • THE GRESHAM – Tucked away on the edge of Gresham Lane branching off Queen St, The Gresham Bar is a whisky and bourbon saloon oozing old-world charm with an eccentric touch and was awarded Bar of the Year at both the Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Awards (2015) and Bar Tender Magazine Bar Awards (2016).
  • THE CHARMING SQUIRE – Finish the day with a cleansing ale at the sort of bar James Squire himself would have loved to drink in.
