2019 AHG Expo: Major tech announcements reveal the future of the clubs sector

March 18, 2019

In an industry built on the simple enjoyment of a cold beer at the bar with friends, this year’s Keno Australasian Hospitality and Gaming Expo (AHG Expo) proves how integral modern technology will be to the future success of the sector.

AHG Expo is an annual showcase for Australasia’s clubs, pubs, restaurants, cafes, bars and entertainment venues featuring the latest hospitality products and services on offer. It’s held right here in Brisbane at the Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday and Thursday this week (10am-4pm).

Among the highlights of the 2019 AHG Expo:

Clubs Queensland unveils a bold plan to bring the global phenomenon of eSports to our state:

eSport is the fastest growing sporting league in the world – filling major international stadiums where fans congregate in their thousands to watch teams of the world’s best video gamers battle head-to-head in purpose-built arenas. Clubs Queensland’s vision is to bring the atmosphere and excitement of eSports tournaments to community clubs around our state. The knock-on effect will be a bolstering of Queensland’s arts, music and tourism industries while also supporting our local video gaming developers.

Australian-first launch of virtual reality hospitality training tech:

The team from YesVR will unveil the future of hospitality training at AHG Expo. Utilising VR technology, inexperienced trainee hospitality staff can be placed in a virtual bar and given the opportunity to (safely) learn how to deal with challenging situations and customers, as well as better understand other time management and serving efficiencies.

AHG Expo is a collaboration between ClubsNSW, Clubs Queensland and the Club Managers’ Association Australia. With year-on-year growth, Clubs Queensland CEO Doug Flockhart says the 2019 AHG Expo will offer visitors a diverse array of hospitality, gaming, food and beverage exhibitors.

“Business owners must open their eyes and minds to innovation and change, while also being willing to lead. The AHG Expo brings all of our industry’s latest ideas and technology together under the one convenient roof,” Mr Flockhart says.
