Whether you’re a local to South East Queensland or you haven’t visited the Sunshine State since the last AHG Expo in 2019, chances are, there are plenty of must-see pubs, clubs and venues you haven’t yet visited. Here, we’ve listed just a few of the places worth visiting during your time in Brisbane for the 2022 MAX AHG Expo.

BRISBANE AND THE REDLANDS…

Bribie Island Bowls Club
It’s stood proud for more than 90 years, but the 2019 renovations gave this beloved community club a fresh facelift. The works included an upgrade of the bistro (including a new bar), a new coffee shop, an on-site bottle shop and saw the addition of a lift in the updated reception area.

Burpengary Community Club
This new club was completed just last year, with the help of the experts at Rohrig Constructions. The $4.8 million fit out included the kitchen, restaurant, bistro, café and gaming areas, with special finishes like natural stone, a stepped timber panel ceiling with brass mirrors and gold Vitrapanel walls in the foyer.

Caboolture Sports Club
The Caboolture Sports Club has seen a number of exciting changes in recent years. October 2019 saw the finishing touches added to their Gaming Lounge and Wine Bar areas, and followed the award-winning renovations throughout their Laneway Café and Tempo Lounge & Bar outlets. Then, just last year, they added a new VIP Gaming Lounge and renovated their Gaming Room.

Capalaba Sports Club
This community favourite underwent major renovations in 2020, with the help of Rohrig Constructions. Over 24 weeks, features including a new commercial kitchen, bar, dining and gaming facilities, exciting amenities, new lifts and even a new kids’ room were added to the already beloved club.

Carina Leagues Club
In late 2020, the Carina Leagues Club completed their state-of-the-art renovation, which saw improvements to their Sports Bar and indoor/alfresco café and the addition of a 185-inch HD LED screen and mega HD LEG TV screens. Kedron-Wavell Services Club
Facing forced closure due to the pandemic, the Kedron-Wavell Services Club enlisted the help of construction company Paynters to turn their proverbial lemons into lemonade. The result? A brand-new Bravo Lounge Bar and on-site Brewhouse, renewing their appeal for the younger demographic and improving their offering for lifelong members.

Redlands Sporting Club
Completed in 2019, the Redlands Sporting Club renovations – undertaken in partnership with Rohrig Construction – saw the refurbishment and extension of the club both inside and out. Stop by to check out their new reception area, café, kids’ room and newly-renovated restaurant, lounge and exterior.

Wynnum Manly Leagues Club
After 18 months, the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club finally announced the completion of their $10million renovation in April 2021 – and boy, was the wait worth it. The entire project saw the addition of a new restaurant and café, bar and gaming lounge.

BMD Northcliffe Surf Lifesaving Club
Renovations to the BMD Northcliffe Supporters Club commenced in July 2021, focusing on creating a new entrance, foyer, staircase and lift, as well as a modern facelift to their street side façade. They also weatherproofed the north-western part of their deck, to tie in with the remainder of their alfresco dining.

Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park
This surf club has always enjoyed prime beachfront position at beautiful Burleigh Heads, and now it is enjoying a fresh refurbishment, too. Its latest transformation came with the assistance of an 82-year-old local builder and his team, who have been part of every renovation at the club for the past 15 years at least.

Club Helensvale
From 2020 to 2021, Club Helensvale worked with Project Leaders to lighten and brighten their gaming lounge, extend their foyer and enlarge their bottle shop. Spurred on by the COVID-19 pandemic, they made further improvements to their gaming floor, providing a space that allows patrons to adequately social distance and feel comfortable in the surrounds.

Club Musgrave
After commencing in February 2020, the $1.5million renovation of the Musgrave Hill Bowls Club was momentarily halted by the pandemic – thankfully, the team managed to complete the project in mid-2020. Now, visitors can enjoy a new dining space with staff making use of the new state-of-the-art kitchen, too.

Currumbin RSL
A 2020 collaboration with Cayas Architects has seen the Currumbin RSL on Currumbin Creek undergo a complete renovation, improving their restaurant, lounge and bar spaces to make better use of their waterfront position. The renovations included a relocation of the bar, the addition of a new commercial kitchen and café, and plenty of natural finishes incorporated to enhance the laidback vibe.

Norths Leagues and Services Club
Working with Cayas Architects, Norths Leagues and Services Club have achieved the something spectacular. They have brought together four venues under one roof with their multi-cultural food selection – breaking new ground in community club dining experiences. It is truly a must visit.

Southport Yacht Club
Pay the Southport Yacht Club a visit to find out what made them the 2021 Club of the Year (non-gaming) at the Clubs Queensland Awards. They have also been named Best Sports Club for three consecutive years, earning the Southport Yacht Club a spot in the awards’ Hall of Fame. They are currently establishing the largest super-yacht berth in Australia, so why not pay them a visit to discover all that’s possible for non-gaming clubs?

Sunshine Beach Surf Club
The Sunshine Beach Surf Club re-opened in early 2020 with an exciting new look. The complete refurbishment included two outdoor decks with unparalleled ocean views, new dining and bar areas and a state-of-the-art gaming room.
