It’s back! The much-anticipated AHG Expo Diageo Cocktail Competition will return in 2025 – and this time, it’s open to entrants nationwide.

For the first time ever, pubs and clubs will battle it out on stage to crown the overall winner of the AHG Expo Diageo Cocktail Competition. So, if you have a cocktail enthusiast who thrives on a little healthy competition, this is their time to shine!

We’re calling for pubs and clubs to enter the AHG Expo Diageo Cocktail Competition. Make a twist on a classic cocktail that’s perfect for enjoying on a hot Queensland summers day and send through your entry.

There are great prizes up for grabs. The top three finalists all receiving flights to Bundaberg to visit the Bundaberg Rum Distillery for a VIP Blend Your Own Rum Experience, with the overall winner also receiving a $500 visa card PLUS a case of their own unique blend of rum which they can use at their venue.

Entering the competition is simple…

Create it:

1. Use up to 6 ingredients (excluding ice and garnish)
2. The drink should have a minimum 30mls of Casamigos or Don Julio Tequila
3. Must not exceed 2 standard drinks

Judging criteria: Taste, visual appeal and creative name

Send it:

Submit the following to Kelly-Anne@ahgexpo.com.au:

1. Your first and last name
2. Pub or Club name and position title
3. Email and mobile phone number
4. Cocktail details:
   1. your cocktail title
   2. the full recipe
   3. the glassware required and;
   4. a photo of your cocktail.

Submissions are due by 9am Thursday February 27.

When is it drawn:

Six finalists will be selected from the paper submissions, who will all be invited to compete in the grand finale, which will be held at the AHG Expo on Thursday March 13, at 11am. Attendance is required in-person, where drinks will be made, then tasted by an expert panel of judges.

The winner will be announced on the day.

What to bring with you if you’re a finalist:

You will be notified on Monday 3^rd March if you have been successful in advancing to the grand finale.

At the grand finale, Diageo will supply the key ingredients of Casamigos or Don Julio Tequila, as well as the glassware you specified in your submission, plus the standard cocktail-making tools of a shaker, strainer, muddler etc. Ice is also supplied.

You are required to bring ALL other ingredients and garnishes with you on the day (if you would prefer to use your own fancy glasses, or your own lucky shaker, feel free to bring these along too).

The decision of the judging panel is final.
